DreamWorks announced Tuesday, July 9, that 'Shrek' will return to screens after 16 years.
The announcement, made on social media, came as a surprise, revealing it will hit theaters on July 1, 2026. The movie will feature the original cast: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz.
Illumination CEO and founder Chris Meledandri had been discussing the comeback, which began development in June.
While details about the plot are scarce, fans of the 2000s generation are eagerly anticipating more from the beloved Ogre franchise.
